Technical specifications
Semax is a synthetic peptide based on a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone. Research has looked at its influence on the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and nerve growth factor, and at cognitive measures including attention and memory in animal models. Further work has examined neuroprotection in models of cerebral ischaemia, and the behaviour of the stress response. Much of this literature is published in Russian-language journals, and independent replication outside that body of work remains limited.
